In 1977, Kanazawa Gold Leaf became the first to be designated as Traditional Craft Products in the material and equipment category by the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan

The tiger and the pine tree, which are drawn on the gold-leafed barrel and cap representing Japan’s auspicious motifs. 

Rosho Mouko-zu (ferocious tiger) drawn by Okyo Maruyama was selected for the motif design to express vigor and loveliness of the tiger.
